GET A PLAN
While trying to pull together a plan, I was frequently told “depends”… and I believe it’s very true, a cat 2 heading directly to us may want us to evacuate while a cat 3 heading further east would likely mean we would be willing to stay. But plans can still be made, and this just highlights the need to prepare for last minute “thanks for all the fish” moment. So looking at what can happen, there seems to be the following areas to plan:
- Get out now plans
- Batten down the hatches (literally)
- Get short term emergency supplies
Get Out NOw! (plans)
For us, the get out now plans are primarily a bug out bag, this will contain minimal supplies to get out of the area. No food, drink etc… in reality the hopes are this will be the last step, and with time we can grab food, drink and fuel. But for this fundamental and hopefully last resort step, it’s all about what we have in a bag ready to go.
