Bug Out Bag
Bug out bag is a bag ready to go with some basic 24 hour supplies, below is a list of items I think are needed for a semi decent bug out bag:
Cash for two weeks.
So the issue is (or I am told) that without power or communications, there will be no way to buy anything without using cash.
Epica Emergency Solar Hand Crank AM/FM/NOAA Digital Radio, Flashlight, Cell Phone Charger.
The model we have also has a solar panel for charging the battery cell inside. I plan to have two, one each. Testing shows the flashlight to be bright enough to see, radio plenty loud (has FM/AM and weather Frequencies). Also charges my iPhone 6, this was a relief as many similar products don’t work on iPhones. See amazon link here.
Always Prepared Small First Aid Kit 100 Piece.
This kit seems like a very good small emergency first aid kit, with whistle and compass. See amazon link here.
- Can opener
- Toilet rolls (one each person)
- Pain Killers, there are some that can be taken simultaneously. So having two types that can might be worthwhile, when s**t hits the fan you might have to work through the pain. So some internet advice: “you can combine aspirin, naproxen, or ibuprofen with acetaminophen. However, do not take aspirin, naproxen, or ibuprofen within 8-12 hours of each other. Also, watch out for pain medications that might be included in combination products such as those used for cough and cold.”
- Fire kit, just looking at a little ziplock bag to hold matches and a few lighters.
- Small camping cook kit, campers are quite good at having small portable equipment.
